Interested in being appointed to the Pennsylvania Board of Massage?

02/05/2009

There is no formal application process offered by the governor's office. In Pennsylvania, the first step is to contact your state representative and/or state senator and let them know you are a constituent interested in being appointed to the new massage therapy board and you would like their help. They should know the process for submitting your name to the governor's office.

An appointment to a regulatory board can be surprisingly political. The governor and the state representative and/or senator must be confident about the background and qualifications of each person recommended for appointment to the regulatory board.

Be prepared to provide your resume and to answer the following types of questions:

  • Do you have any government experience? This can include local government, advisory committees, part-time, or service positions.
  • Have you ever been elected to office?
  • Have you ever belonged to an organization that excludes persons based on race, color, religion etc? This includes country clubs.
  • Have you ever served in the military, including the National Guard?
  • Have you, your spouse or partner, or any member of your household received compensation or been in business with the State of Pennsylvania?
  • Have you ever been convicted of a crime? Have you ever been imprisoned?
  • What is your political party affiliation?
