Minnesota Regulation Clarification

06/16/2016

To clarify our recent Minnesota legislative update, although HF 644 and SF 1310, the proposed voluntary state credentialing bills for massage therapists, failed in the Minnesota state legislature, Minnesota Statute 146A, which has been the law in Minnesota for over 15 years, remains in place. Among other things, MN 146A allows the state to discipline unlicensed complementary and alternative healthcare practitioners, including massage and bodywork therapists, who engage in certain prohibited conduct, and requires that practitioners provide a Client Bill of Rights to their clients. Again, MN 146A has been the law in Minnesota for over 15 years, and it remains in place.

If you are unfamiliar with MN 146A, please take the time to review it here, as it sets forth important legal duties and prohibited conduct for massage therapists and other complementary and alternative healthcare practitioners in Minnesota.
