ABMP is excited to announce that the Arkansas legislature enacted House Bill 1217 (HB 1217), the Interstate Massage Compact (IMpact), on March 12. The goal of the IMpact is to:
- Support the mobility of licensed massage therapists
- Create reciprocity among participant states through an additional licensing pathway
- Reduce portability barriers
Now that Arkansas has passed HB 1217, it joins Nevada and Ohio as an official IMpact-participating state. At least four more states must pass the IMpact bill before massage therapists in these participating states can obtain a multistate license, which will make it easier for professionals to work in other jurisdictions. We will let you know once enough states join.
As you may know, ABMP was in favor of HB 1217. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to contact their local representatives to show support for the IMpact—it’s important for lawmakers to hear from constituents and subject-matter experts like you. ABMP applauds the industry professionals who elevated their voices to help pass this legislation!
