We released more than 100 new episodes of The ABMP Podcast: Speaking with the Massage & Bodywork Profession in 2021!
ABMP podcast hosts Darren Buford and Kristin Coverly want to say thank you to all our amazing guests, our expert podcast partners Ruth Werner and Allison Denney, and all the listeners for being a part of this effort. We asked Ruth and Allison to share some of their thoughts on the past year of podcasting:
Ruth Werner, host of the “I Have a Client Who . . .” podcast series
"Making this podcast has been much more work—and much more fun—than I had ever predicted. I love that it puts me directly in touch with massage therapists who are thoughtful, compassionate, curious, and committed to offering the best they can for their clients. These contributors show me the very best of our profession, and they prompt me to learn more about how our work intersects with clients who live with persistent health challenges. From dermatillomania to testosterone pellets, "I Have a Client Who . . ." is a weekly adventure into looking at if and how massage therapy can improve our clients’ quality of life."
Allison Denney, host of "The Rebel MT" podcast series
"I listen to podcasts. Obsessively. All of them. The murder mysteries. The science nerds. The game shows. The investigative reporting. The psychology deep dives. All of them. I play them whenever I find myself with a moment and I absorb as much as I can, getting lost in the voices and the stories of the amazing people who produce them. And then, one day, like Jim Carrey playing God in Bruce Almighty, I had my own. The tables were turned. I was now sitting with a mic in front of me, recording software on my computer, and the gift to create whatever I wanted.
With a little guidance and a lot of grace, ABMP handed me the space to create my own podcast. It was like they had given me this beautifully nourished soil and said, “Plant whatever you want!” And I have had so much fun planting. Creating articles that I get to read out loud and add expression and emotion to is like getting to pick the flowers I grow and give them to all my friends. When I started interviewing bodywork icons and sharing their stories on the podcast, I realized this garden is boundless. I love talking about anatomy. I love diving deep with colleagues . And I love this career we have chosen. Thank you to all who have listened. And thank you ABMP for some pretty amazing soil."
