Continuing Education FAQ

What's required for continuing education for certified members?

ABMP Certified members are required to complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years in order to maintain their Certified membership. ABMP Certified members agree to these terms at the time of joining or renewing at this membership level.

When do I have to complete my continuing education?

Every two years, or every second renewal. For example, if you first joined us on June 1, 2015, you would have to complete your 16 hours of continuing education by May 31, 2017. Then you would need to complete your next 16 hours by May 31, 2019.

What can I take?

ABMP has embraced a broad approach to continuing education. Our philosophy is that if it can improve your career, it's good enough for us. So, you might take a seminar on reflexology, or a computer class. It's what matters to you that counts.

Do I need to send in certificates or forms?

No. We'll randomly audit a small percentage of members to ensure the requirements are being satisfied.

What if I didn't complete the education?

If you have not completed your continuing education and you do not plan to, then choose the ABMP Professional level of membership. If you have not completed the full requirement, but will complete it during the next 90 days, then you may remain at the ABMP Certified level of membership.

*All courses are approved by the NCBTMB and state boards, when appropriate (NCB provider number 451086-09). In some states, online education is not accepted for continuing education to renew your state credentials. View your state requirements to learn more.
