Massage Makes Me Happy and Healthy Day on March 20, 2024

The Global Massage Makes Me Happy and Healthy initiative announces its goal to spread the word about the benefits of massage therapy, honor the work of massage therapists, and host an annual online celebration every year on March 20—designated as “Global Massage Makes Me Happy and Healthy Day.” From soothing sore muscles and melting away stress to boosting immunity and promoting deeper sleep, massage therapy offers many benefits for people of all ages and backgrounds.

According to the nonprofit Global Wellness Institute (GWI), research shows that massage supports physical and emotional well-being; in other words, massage creates happiness. “After 40 years of research, we have yet to find a chronic or systematic human malady that massage does not aid,” says Dr. Tiffany Field, founder and director of the University of Miami School of Medicine’s Touch Research Institute and medical spokesperson for the GWI Massage Makes Me Happy and Healthy Initiative.

All are invited to join the Massage Makes Me Happy and Healthy Day celebration, an hour-long Zoom event on March 20, where a panel of experts will share 2024 wellness and massage trends and highlight research showing why massage is beneficial for the mind, body, and spirit. The expert panel will include Susie Ellis, founder of the Global Wellness Institute and Global Wellness Summit; Tiffany Field, PhD, director and founder of the Touch Research Institute; Karen Short, CEO of Universal Companies; Jim Chenevey, CEO of Earthlite; and CG Funk, chief therapeutic experience officer for Massage Heights Franchising.
